Lots and Land

Lots and land availability in the La Paz area for building your Dream home is plentiful. However, much CAUTION must be used to insure that the property has a legal title and a registered tax number.

Most of the properties in the urban areas have a tax number. But many may not have a clear title due to the death of one of the owners, a divorce or separation, etc. Another problem is the property boundaries, which are not always clear.

The property in the rural areas may still be under community ownership (Ejido) and cannot be legally sold until it has been processed and a title given by the Mexican government. This can be done but it takes a lot of time and is quite expensive. So it is best to choose your Dream home property that already has a clear title and a tax number.

Most of the developer properties or city properties are ok. These are just precautions so that you don’t jump into something without first checking as there are no real estate license laws here and there are a lot of un-ethical people trying to sell property here. Most of these problems can be resolved by hiring professionals to guide you through your purchase.
